Frequently Asked Questions

What About Lost or Damaged Books?

The members are required to take good care of the books they borrow. When a book is lost or damaged, the member is required to buy a replacement copy or pay the replacement cost in the agreement with a librarian.
The replacement cost of a lost or damaged book is determined according to the purchase price of a new book at that moment.

The replacement price of the lost or damaged book (or any other item) that is rare and valuable, but no longer available on the market, is determined by a commission appointed by the Library Director.

Using the Internet and a Copier

The Library offers a copying service of documents and library materials in compliance with the Copyright Act. The service is charged according to the Library Price List. Library computers offer a free Internet access for members, who are required to provide a valid library card in order to use them.

What If I Lose My Library Card?

A library member is required to report to a librarian the loss of their library membership card, as well as the change of address or any other personal data. After the report of the lost library card is submitted, the Library may issue a new card.

Can I Renew Overdue Books?

Overdue books cannot be renewed until the overdue fine has been paid.

How Can I Make a Book Reservation?

If a library member is looking for a book that is currently not available in the Library, they can reserve it (except for the school required readings). When the reserved book is returned, the Library notifies the user by telephone or email. The user can then borrow the book within three days upon the notification. The reservation fee is charged according to the Library Price List and it is 10 HRK.
